Puffin Book Club takes internet security very seriously indeed and has taken all possible steps to keep your credit card details secure. We utilise a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) that encrypts the data stream between your browser and our server. In addition to this, our secure server is endorsed by THAWTE, an internet agency specialising in site authentication. You can click on the logo at the bottom of the page to confirm the certificate's authenticity. Privacy

Puffin Book Club is committed to protecting your privacy. We will only store, use and disclose the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998). We collect information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and contact you in case of queries and secondly, to provide you with the best possible service that helps you get the most out of Puffin Book Club. We only email you if you give us your consent, and only send you newsletters if you have asked to receive them when you registered. If you want to change your mailing preferences at any time, you can do this on your Account page.

The information we collect about you is the following:

We do not hold your credit/debit card information on our web server, and any personal information we do hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy, the law and the Which? Web Trader Code. Also, provided that you inform us of any changes, the information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us, and if you inform us of any inaccuracies we will delete or correct them promptly. We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first. We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. We use secure server technologies to ensure that any personal and transactional information is protected to the highest standards. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. Cookies are pieces of information about your session which are stored by your internet browser on your computer's hard drive. The cookies we use do not store any personal details relating to you or your credit/debit cards. We also use JavaScript to help improve your online shopping experience. Returns

• If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us in its original condition for a complete and immediate refund, within 28 days of receipt.
• If the item is damaged or incorrect our customer service team will arrange a replacement and collection.
• If, after your order has been despatched, you wish to cancel the order because you no longer require the books, you will need to send the goods back to us at your own expense. When the goods are received back in good condition we will refund you for the goods and any postage you paid on your original order only.
• Authorisation to return goods must be obtained at all times.
• Our refund guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect them in any way.

How to return

Three easy steps

1. Get in touch through our contact us section to obtain an authorisation number. Alternatively, you can call our Customer Service team 8am to 8pm seven days a week on 0845 606 4216.

2. If your goods need returning please parcel them up with the original documentation and write the authorisation number on the outside of the parcel

3. If it is a collection please leave as instructed. If returning in the post please obtain proof of postage.

Please allow up to 21 days for a refund.  Please allow 10 days for a replacement.  Damaged or faulty books will be replaced immediately when you contact us.

Children

We do not store or use the email addresses of the children who contact us, for example to enter competitions, unless they have requested information from us or are the winner of a competition, in which case we may need to use their email address to contact them. We provide information on how a parent or guardian can review and request deletion of this information, and how to prevent further collection and use of personal information concerning the child. If you wish to contact us regarding the reviewing and deletion of your child's details, you should contact us by emailing customerservices@puffinbookclub.co.uk. You will be asked to specify the username and password of the child concerned and you will need to provide your own email address, for verification and contact purposes only.

No personal information collected from children under 13 will be sold, rented or otherwise disclosed to any company outside the Puffin Book Club group, except for disclosure to companies acting as our agents to help us to provide services requested by the child.

Children under 13 are permitted to vote and take part in contests. We will not under any circumstance ask the child for any personal information beyond email addresses without obtaining the written consent of a parent or guardian.

Ordering

You have the right to cancel your order anytime before and up to seven working days starting from the day after the goods are delivered. We are unable to amend an order once it has been submitted, however it may be possible for us to cancel your order on your behalf prior to despatch. If your order has already been despatched when you choose to cancel, please our Returns Policy.

Puffin Book Club reserves the right to make changes and revisions to these policies. Please read our policies carefully before submitting information to this site. By using this site, you agree to these terms.

Your Account

By using this website you accept all responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of all account details, including password. This may involve restricting access to your computer to prevent unauthorised use of your account, as you will be held responsible for any activity that takes place under your registered account details.

Password confidentiality is of the utmost importance, and you should take all necessary steps to ensure that your password remains private to you. Should you suspect that your password has become known, or is likely to become known to any other persons, you must inform us immediately.

By registering as an account holder, you agree that all details you provide remain both correct and true.

Most personal information can be amended via the My Account section of our site. Should any difficulty occur whilst updating your details, you should contact us immediately.

Puffin Book Club may, at its sole discretion, refuse access to the site, withdraw accounts, and remove or edit content at any time and without notice.

Promotions

A promotion may be amended or withdrawn at any time.

Free or discounted postage promotions are only applied to standard delivery costs, and some areas may incur a surcharge.

Free postage offers are only applied to orders with a payment value.

Promotions and discounts that lead to a zero value basket will be charged at the standard rates.

Competitions

Our competitions are only open to children aged 16 and under. Only one entry per person.

After the closing date, the winner's details will be used to contact them via post but will not be used for any other purpose. Competition winners agree to their names being published on our website or in our publications in connection with receiving a prize and may be required to take part in publicity based around winning one of our competitions. By entering any of our competitions you agree to adhere to the above terms and conditions.

In the unlikely event of supply difficulties we reserve the right to replace the stated prize with another of comparable or greater value. There will be no cash alternative.

By entering the competition you agree that: 1) your entry can be used by Puffin Book Club as they see fit and 2) your entry is original to you and not wholly or substantially copied from any other material.

Puffin Book Club competitions are not open to the employees or subcontractors of Puffin Book Club, any competition sponsor or its employees, agents or subcontractors, or the immediate families of any such employees or sponsors.

The closing date is as specified in the relevant competition. Winners will be formally notified within 21 days of the closing date. The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

The prize may not be transferred to any other person. Full details of the prize will be given in writing upon notification. Competition winners may be required to take part in or cooperate with publicity.

Use of a false name or address (i.e. a name by which the entrant is not usually known) will disqualify them from receiving any prize. Puffin Book Club reserves the right to oblige any potential winner to provide documentary proof of their identity and address as directed by Puffin Book Club before such person may claim their prize.

We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time. By entering any of our competitions you are confirming that you agree to be bound by the above terms and conditions.

We endeavour to offer a wide choice of books, suitable for all age groups, and will aim to convey accurately where a title contains any potentially offensive content. Fundraising Terms and Conditions

The money that parents' orders earn toward their specified school's Puffin Book Club credit can be exchanged for books from the selection provided by Puffin Book Club. There is no cash alternative to the book offer.
